Alexandra Gallo
Originally a ballet dancer, Alexandra studied ballet year-round at The Rock School for Dance Education, Miami City Ballet School, and The School of Pennsylvania Ballet. Alexandra attended summer intensives with scholarships and trainee positions at The School of American Ballet, The Bolshoi Ballet, Chautauqua School of Dance, Orlando Ballet, and Carolina Ballet.
In 2011, Alexandra took up a daily vinyasa yoga practice while looking for cross-training. It didn't take long for her to discover that there was more to yoga than just physical benefits. In 2016, after leaving a ballet career, she completed Dhyana Yoga’s Teacher Training Program, joining Yoga Alliance as a 200-RYT. Shortly after, Alexandra began teaching at Shanti Yoga and Ayurveda as a vinyasa and beginner yoga instructor. Along with private lessons, she has also lead classes at Studio 1831, Top Fitness Philadelphia, The School of Pennsylvania Ballet, and Sweat Fitness. Over the summer of 2017, Alexandra had an opportunity to teach yoga classes in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua at the Casa Oro Eco Hostel. In October 2017, she joined Philly Power Yoga as a power yoga instructor.
Using her teacher training's strong ashtanga base, as well as her ballet background, Alexandra creates dance-like sequences that challenge the physical body and connect mediation with movement. Mentally, she concentrates on building empowerment within her students, as well as finding ways to relieve stress built up from everyday life. Her goal is to bring out the confidence and peace-of-mind that yoga has given her to others, while challenging the physical body to explore its possibilities
